Moab, Utah. Certainly a destination i will return to. It was only the 2nd stop we had made for a photo on a non-stop trip to Texas with my Dad and Brother. On the way down we drove through Moab at night. I said if there is anything we do on this trip, I want to be back here on the return trip for a sunset. It was timing up to be a sunset, but Chris and dad HAD to stop for Mexican food in Farmington, New Mexico. All I wanted was my sunset. I was out numbered. After lunch we drove like bandits. At the Utah/Colorado border, we hit a white out snow storm. With only 20 minutes until sunset and before we hit Moab I thought my sunset was long gone! Just as we crested the top of the canyon before dropping into Moab and the Canyon Lands, the snow stopped. We came out of the clouds and there across the vast valley floor was THE most AMAZING sunset going on! We hauled ass to the first possible photo op and I snapped away for about 1-2 minutes before it was all gone and over with. But it held on just long enough for me to get this shot! Its seriously times like these that have the adrenaline of being storm chasers. But we photographers chase light. Light that only happens in a matter of minutes and sometimes seconds. I have well over 100,000 photos that I have taken, and I can tell you the story, the memory and emotion of every single one of them! It’s one of those simple things that I don’t know why or how it happens but it’s there.
